ROKIL Community:
Funded Early Intervention

Our Community Mission

At ROKIL, our community mission is to create accessible, funded spaces where every early years child has the opportunity to thrive, no formal diagnosis required. We partner with organisations, local libraries and funders like the Rothschild Foundation and the National Lottery to bring high-quality, neuro-affirming support directly to Buckinghamshire families.

We understand that early childhood is full of big emotions, tricky transitions, and unique communication hurdles. Whether a child is on a clinical pathway, displaying early signs of sensory overwhelm, or simply needs a little extra support navigating their environment, our community projects are designed to help. We exist to equip children and their parents with practical, everyday tools so they can feel regulated, understood, and confident as they step into the world.

Playful Voices: A 6-Week Sensory & Communication Cohort

Fully funded by the Rothschild Foundation for Buckinghamshire families.

Playful Voices is a multi-modal communication program combining visual aids, Makaton, therapeutic play, and music to support children and parents along their speech, communication, and social development journeys. Over six weeks, we provide direct group intervention for children, alongside actionable resources and strategic support for parents to utilise at home.

Each six-week cohort follows a targeted curriculum, anchoring specific Makaton signs and therapeutic activities to essential developmental themes. Our structured approach includes:

  • Friends & Family: Building social connection and shared attention.

  • Routine & Transitions: Using visual aids to ease anxiety around daily changes and nursery drop-offs.

  • Autonomy & Self-Advocacy: Empowering children with the communication tools to safely express their needs, emotions, and boundaries.

Expert-Led Intervention:

To ensure a premium, highly supportive environment, Playful Voices is directed by a specialist practitioner holding an MSc in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, a BSc in Education and Psychology, and Makaton certification. Every session is supported by a dedicated team of trained staff, ensuring strict, appropriate ratios and the ability to provide immediate 1-to-1 support when a child needs it.

Due to the funded nature of this project, spaces are strictly limited per cohort to maintain a therapeutic, low-arousal environment. This program is exclusively for:

  • Children aged 2.5 to 4 years old in the High Wycombe area.

  • Children currently experiencing transition anxiety, speech delays, or sensory overwhelm.

  • Families seeking alternative or bridge support while navigating clinical pathways.

  • Parents who can commit to attending all 6 weekly 45-minute sessions alongside their child.
